Bug #235

KCD and steam launcher quirk

Added by Backer pavelperina over 3 years ago. Updated over 3 years ago.

Steam or Launcher:

I have no idea what happened, I haven't started KCD last week or few days, it wanted to download new installation. No idea why, cause I installed alpha in February and upgraded to beta and beta patch from mid-March. I was hoping for new patch, but discovered following:
Desktop link to KCD points to steam://rungameid/286860 and it's named "Kingdom Come Deliverance (Alpha Access)".
I tried to run game from it's location, found out that folder D:\games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Kingdom Come Deliverance\Bin64 still contains old alpha and file dates are 2016-02-11. Game.exe located here displays black screen and fails to launch.
There's a folder D:\games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Kingdom Come Deliverance\Bin\Win64 with KingdomCome.exe, this one works.
I have no idea why old alpha is still there and why steam fails to recognize that game is installed out of sudden.

I don't need any help with this as it runs flawlessly without steam (it needs to be launched to check license i think).
Alpha folder can just confuse people.

Hi Pavel,

This looks like a steam issue, I dont really think we can do much to stop it form happening.
